The VerticAlp Emosson mountain rail system is over 100 years old and was once used in the construction of the first dam to supply electricity to SBB. Today, these mountain services transport school classes from Le Châtelard VS up to the Emosson Dam at an altitude of 1,965m. The journey combines a steep funicular, a panoramic train with views of Mont Blanc and a mini-funicular trip up to the top of the dam. Upon arrival, pupils can enjoy the Emosson site, its turquoise lake and the many activities on offer.
