In 1924, the very first Swiss Yodelling Festival took place in Basel. Over a century later, Basel is continuing this special tradition. Three days of yodelling, Alphorn playing and flag-waving: over 12,000 participants will be taking part in the 32nd Swiss Yodelling Festival from 26 to 28 June 2026. Some 200,000 visitors are expected to attend the big event for ancient Swiss traditions. With over 1,000 performances in churches and concert houses in the heart of Basel, participants will be presenting their work before a jury for evaluation. In addition to this, there will be plenty of social and spontaneous yodelling in the yodeller village and in the alleyways of the old town. The colourful festival parade with traditional themes will be held on Sunday afternoon, passing through the middle of Basel and bringing the three-day festival to a close.
