Discover UNESCO World Heritage.

How were fortresses built in the Alps during the Middle Ages?

With three castles and two curtain walls, the Fortress of Bellinzona is one of the last remaining examples of mediaeval fortress architecture in the Alpine region. The Fortress of Bellinzona has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Go on a journey back in time to the Middle Ages and learn all about castle construction at the castles of Castel Grande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro and their associated museums. You can also combine your visit with a leisurely stroll: the traditional Ticino market takes place in the centre of the city every Saturday morning.
